 I was looking for coloring books for my Christmas gifts this year and ran across this lovely book of designs for the horse lover. This coloring book reminded me of my older sister who was always horse crazy as a child (and who has recently begun to color as well.) The beautifully drawn designs in the book brought those memories back and are lovely and fun to color besides. I think the title is apt – it is a great book for any who loves the beauty and majesty of horses.The designs show horses. Sometimes one, sometimes more than one. Some of the designs also include people. I found that there was a nice mix of both horizontal and vertical designs as well. The designs are detailed with backgrounds but not to the point of being intricate or hard to color.This is what I found in this coloring book:30 Horse Designs (some with and some without people included) in the bookPrinted one side of the pagePaper is typical inexpensive quality by CreateSpace printing: white, thin, slightly rough and non-perforated.The designs do not merge into the binding. The designs have a framing line at the outer edges.Glue BindingCreate Space Paper/Media QualityAlcohol-based markers bleed through the page quickly.Water-based markers bleed through in spots.Gel pens and India ink pens leave shadows on back of the page. India ink can bleed through if you apply heavily or multiple coats.Coloring Pencils work fairly well with this publisher's paper provided you don't press extremely hard while coloring. I find that I can layers the same color for deeper pigment or multiple colors and I could blend easily using a blending stick. This is true of both oil and wax based pencils. I have also found that hard lead pencils leave dents through the paper.I like to use a blotter when working in this type of book. I use a page of card stock or several sheets of heavyweight paper under my working page. It keeps seeping ink and marring dents from ruining the pages below.

If you love horses this will be a great coloring book for you. I absolutely love this book. Every picture in this book is great. The paper is good quality. The picture designs are great.

The first thing I did when I got this color book was to remove the pages from the cover. The pages are single side print, but the paper is typical of most economical color books and I don't like coloring on it. Also, I occasionally find a small detail I'd like to change, (for my own benefit.) Now I can make changes, if I want to, copy the picture on better paper and color my heart out! The pictures are of horses, beautifully drawn in various settings, some with people, others just horses. Amanda Neel has become one of my favorite color book artists and I will spend many hours enjoying the wonderful pages in this book. Yes, I recommend it to anyone who enjoys coloring horses and landscapes.

I’m very happy with this book, I love it! There are 30 beautifully illustrated and captivating horse scenes, from the farm to the wilderness. Some are more detailed than others but all look wonderful when coloured! Plus pages are all one sided which is great if you’d like to frame them.

Kind of drab. Browns greens needed often.Pictures are a lot of landscape backgrounds.

Very realistic looking. Nice variety.

My niece loved it she is 10

Will Hill kept my interest for most of the story, but I skimmed the parts of the cult doctrines and the nitty-gritty details of the teachings because that level of detail was not material to Moonbeam’s journey.One red flag I can’t overlook is when the psych hospital put the survivors together for unsupervised social interacted. Although doctors observed behind a two-way mirror, a sexual assaulter would NEVER be allowed to be alone with a victim, particularly a younger girl. This made me a cringe and distracted me from the storytelling. As much as I enjoyed AFTER THE FIRE, the entire book was basically Moonbeam recounting cult life before and after. Moonbeam’s psychiatric treatment took a backseat to the agent’s questions. I wish Hill had done better research of psych hospitals and PTSD treatment.AFTER THE FIRE is a compelling, yet flawed book.

Will Hill doesn't pull punches in After the Fire, and that's a good thing. The book begins in the chaotic environment of a siege by the government on a religious compound only referred to as The Base by the young narrator. These undiluted scene then plunge the reader into the equally disorienting madness of a hospital trauma room where the narrator is being treated, unwillingly, by doctors for burns and other injuries. The narrative then segues into our narrator--now known as Moonbeam--uncovering the details of her life within The Base, the beliefs of the Holy Church of the Lord's Legion, the rise of Father John, and the events surrounding the siege and subsequent fire through a series of therapy sessions and flashbacks.Moonbeam proves to be a detailed narrator of her life. She candidly discusses her life within the Legion, including her own mother's lobbying of Father John to take Moonbeam as one of his Future Wives. She tells of her crush on Nate, a mysterious stranger who arrives at The Base one day, and who disappears in the night a few years later. When the full truth is finally revealed, Moonbeam's and the other survivors' journeys seem all the more remarkable as the reader is once again reminded that Moonbeam and her Brothers and Sisters are still only children.Will Hill weaves a fascinating thriller that keeps you wanting to read the next page. At no point did I feel the narrative dragging or unraveling at any pace other than the one set by Hill. Definitely worthy of a solitary read but even better if chosen for a book club discussion setting.

I enjoyed this read immensely! I found the author's style and syntax enjoyable and smooth. The plot line was compelling and thought-provoking. I teared up a couple of times, thinking of the lure and control of cults (and even some religions...).Get it, you won't regret it.

He has several years of software development experience in C, Java, Perl, and Bourne Shell and has contributed to several books, including Solaris 8: Complete Reference, UNIX Unleashed and Special Edition Using UNIX. Sriranga graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1997 and is presently pursuing further studies. He is currently employed in the Server Appliance group at Sun Microsystems, Inc. Great Manual for overall familiarization with some great tools. I used this when i was the DBA and lead programmer for a hospital. It gave great information on several powerful tools (Awk, Sed, Bash shell, etc). It didn’t explain every little detail (that’s why you have man pages) but it did a good job of explaining the purpose of the tools.About the title: their idea is to learn this in 24 one hour lessons. For most of us, that means a couple months. This doesn’t mean you’ll become better in one day than people who’ve dedicated their lives to this. But this will help you if your superpower lies in another part of the system, but want to make these tools also work for you.

not gonna happen! it takes most people YEARS to learn the linux CLI. however a very good guide to programming for same. some of the examples though do not work in all distros. recommended for advanced linux users that know something about programming basics. this uses CLI bash script language so if you don't know what that is this book is NOT for you!

This book is okay. Each chapter has a summary, mini-quiz and glossary at the end. The book gives a URL to download the answers to the quizzes, but comes back as a 404 error. The answers are in the back of the book though anyway. A bit dated; some of the commands have evolved/changed. Found some errors in the book and some info is given w/o clear explanation. For Unix, but Linux users can gain from it too.

Becoming thouroghly proficent in various shells and being able to write shell scripts whether simple or of vast complexity is a fundemental requirement for becoming *NIX savvy. Whatever your flavor, Linux, OpenBSD, Solaris - you must know shell scripting to be taken seriously.The title of this book, "Teach Yourself Shell Programming in 24 Hours" is no joke. Even if you know nothing of this subject, a couple passes through this book will bring you all the way up to a moderate and respectable level of proficency. While this book only covers a tiny part of a massive skill, you will leave this book with the confidence and the ability to learn more and more without the help of another book. Of course, there are more advanced books out there, and it can't hurt to look, but I STRONGLY reccomend starting here.

I have not used shell scripting in the long time. I ordered this book and it helps me refresh a lot about Unix and shell scripting leanrt in school many years ago as undergraduate student. The book is well-written and will keep you excited. One important thing is: practice as you are reading. By the time you finish the book you should be able to grab much from the book. I downloaded the Sun Solaris 9 that I installed on x86 computer and I am playing with some flavors of shell writing small shell scripts.

the author does a good job at easing the reader into learning the content, however, he could make this book much better by giving the reader exercises to do in each chapter to cement the concept. All in all though, it's worth reading and much easier to stick with than O'reilly's "learning the bash shell", which is also a very good book but in my opinion it moves way to fast for someone trying to learn the concepts.
