Book 6 of the New Species series, is short, sweet, and to the point.The story begins with Lauren, a realtor called last minute to show a property for a co-worker to a prospective buyer. Upon entering the property, it is evident that she is in a world of trouble when she finds the warehouse open. She is soon cornered by several humongous men in dark sunglasses. Fearful of what they may want, she tries to escape them, but is soon captured.After learning the truth of her co-workers past from them, and going through a rather intense interrogation process, Lauren finds herself thrust into the protection of Wrath. He is far from thrilled to be placed with Lauren, not because she is unattractive, but because he does not trust himself with a woman. Subjected in the past to inhuman testing of the sexual nature, he has grown accustom to associating women with pain and hate. Knowing that he must watch Becca, he is fearful of what her presence will do to him, especially since he finds her attractive.I really did not find an immediate connection to Wrath as I did with his predecessors, nor did I feel I really knew him once the story was over. His character seemed predictable and one-sided. This is possibly do to the fact that Wrath is rather new to followers of the series. From what I did gather, he is quiet, intense, and reluctant to give himself to a human. He is enough of a character to follow, but not enough to remember.Newly released, and unsure of what life after captivity entails, Wrath immediately jumps at the opportunity to volunteer for the NSO (New Species Organization) in association with the Task Force. Seeking to find closer from his past demons, he along with his friend Shadow swear to bring justice to those who have hurt his people. Little does he know that a voluptuous human named Lauren is about to stumble into his life and test his resistance.Many readers will remember Wrath from Book 5 with Brawn and Becca. At that point, he had no identity, and he does not even acquire his name until the start of his book. Although he honorable, and utterly hot, Lauren is the one the carries their story. Lauren is witty and charming. I really admired her character, and clever personality. Both she and her friend Amanda brightened the book up, bringing a fresher and more comedic flare to a lot of the situations that would have otherwise been drab.The connection between Lauren and Wrath was far from immediate. When the two find themselves close for the first time, I was not sure whom she was falling for. It wasn’t until Dohner pointed him out in the group that it became clear he was the guy for her, and she was going to be his.The one saving grace for this book is that Dohner is an exceptional writer. She really brought in some memorable scenes. Her action writing is always intense and compelling. As too is her romance writing. The cover photo is spot on; Wrath spent more time in the shower than anywhere else. Some of those shower scenes were quite memorable, and bless Dohner for having such a creative mind.For those who are new to the New Species Series, know that you do not have to read all of them in order. Each book stands alone. I would not recommend reading this one first. My favorite is still Valiant. He was one hottie.

3.5 stars. I do really like this series. I especially love several things about this book:This book gives the Species male an actual reason to be like "me big and rough, human female small and fragile." This book had way less repetition than prior books. Generally, I really liked Lauren, she was chubby had beautiful hair and was very smart. I know that the MFs body image issues bothered some reviewers but it honestly didn't bother me. To me, it seemed pretty realistic that she wouldn't get over them right when a cute guy liked her; it takes time and positive reinforcement/ influence to get past something like that. Wrath was better in some ways. I liked that he had issues he struggled with. I liked him on the task force and especially liked his friendship with Shadow. The shower scenes with Wrath were hot.There were many flaws though. The editing was still bad (I even think a wrong name was used once). I didn't like the time frame (3 days isn't enough to portray a deep emotional bond and made the mains seem in lust only rather than love). I was not fond of her return to rape/ threat of rape as a plot device. The whole idea of interrogation with intimidation was brilliant and could've been more developed without the rape aspect. The author has this terrible habit of not fully resolving a conflict then having one of the characters say something like, "Btw, remember those bad guys? We totally captured them." That is something that should be resolved as the story unfolds, not mentioned by a secondary character after the fact. Parts of the conversation with Justice were annoyingly unnecessary-- Wrath lived and worked with humans and probably should've already known some of that stuff. Finally, the elephant in the room...Amanda. I feel like there was wasted potential here. Many reviewers (myself included) didn't like this character. I feel like the author came up with an interesting back story for Amanda but her current personality and actions are at odds with such a history and wind up coming across as obnoxious and excessively crude. I think that this character, if revamped, could be awesome. But as is, is difficult to stomach.Hence, 3.5 stars.

It such a great series. I didn't get into it at first (because the first story was a little too intense for me) but I kept reading, and now I can't stop. I have a few issues and would have rated this 3.5stars if it were possible, but I rounded up. My major issue is believability. There are situations where someone does something and I find myself saying "NO ONE DOES THAT!!!" For example , if I was just terrorized and almost raped by someone, I wouldn't be wanting and willing to help them do ANYTHING ten minutes later. (no matter how noble their cause) I ALMOST stoped reading the book after that....just, no. No one, and I mean NO ONE, is like that. She was so kind afterwards... Impossible. Unbelievable. Buuuuuut, everything after that was cool. Lol

Very deep, insightful book. I might even say soulful. Much much more than your typical racer bio, and I loved it. It was difficult to get much information about Spencer because he was a bit reclusive and private. The book also documents that a person, if he or she is willing and is also ready to listen, is continually learning in life, and that miracles really do happen. Some people may argue that these details aren't necessary, but I felt that it really gave me a better idea of Freddie Spencer, the person.Loved the fact that Freddie paid a lot of attention to the spellbinding 1983 season when he battled Kenny Roberts for the 500GP crown in Kenny's last 500 campaign.Back in 1983, racetracks were much more dangerous than today, though racers still die in today's safer environment. Having said that, "The Pass" in Anderstorp Sweden is what it is, and glad that both men are still here to argue about it.Tell the truth, I was very much a Roberts supporter and still am, but have gained respect for Freddie Spencer over the years, and even more so after reading this book.Wishing Fast Freddie well in whatever he chooses to do in life, glad he's made a semblance of peace with KR, and thank you for writing this beautiful memoir.

Not at all what I expected. This book goes way past just his racing career. I was lucky to have been on the track with him when he was with two brothers in louden. I was able to see him first hand slide the front end and use the rear to help steer the bike. No other rider I had ever seen showed the feel he had for a machine. I had talked with him briefly coming out of the bathroom as he was heading for the race. I was amazed at how calm he was. It was at that point I became a fan. Reading this book gave me such a better understanding of how he got to that point and the struggles no one ever knew about. So much more than just racing. Thank you Freddy for this incredible book.

I have read many books that were written by people who have been involved in motorcycle racing. This one is the best. I was interested in this book after listening to Freddie speak on Motorsport Magazine's podcasts. He tells a very personal story about his life as a whole, the ups and downs. It is put together very well with his career in racing as the main part of it, but much more. This is an uncommonly good book.

There is no doubting Freddie Spencer is a legend on two wheels as well as a decent and interesting guy, but this book doesn't do him or his life justice. It's not the story itself that's the problem but the editing of the book that makes it a hard read. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of interesting bits, from riding stories to formative personal and family events, but the book is fragmented in its presentation and lacks continuity. If you're a Freddie fan it still might be worth it for the information it contains, but someone should slap the editors for not giving this book the flow and "feel" it deserves.

I have a small case filled with racers life stories, and 'Feel' is one of the best. A long time fan of Freddie Spencer and this covers it all for me. Great race descriptions and history. Also, a very introspective book, which gave some insights that I can use in my life. I did come across one typo/wrong info in it when it was written about Road Atlanta course at Elkhart Lake and that should read Road America ( our favorite course ), Road Atlanta was even talked about on the next page. But, this is nitpicking on a wonderful book. Thanks to Freddie for sharing this story.

I've been a race fan for decades and always felt that Freddie Spencer was enigmatic at best. I haven't finished it yet, but I'm really enjoying his perspective especially on the 1983 season. Looking forward to learning more about his state of mind near the end of his career and during the various comebacks. The story is every bit as much about putting his whole life together as it is about his racing.

Freddie Spencer is an icon in the motorcycle universe. He is also a hero of mine. The fantastic book only reinforced this (spoiler alert: turns out Freddie is human). Great read. Couldn't put it down.

I thoroughly enjoyed Freddie's story and the book tells it well. I did not like the inconclusive ending but a must read. Fast Freddie was one of the greatest in amongst the likes of Sheen, Roberts, Lawson, and the many other greats.

It was like Grease and a John Hughes film made a beautiful baby, and that baby was The Red Zone. Swoontastic and real! We all sort of fell in love with Mack in The Playmaker but now we get the full wonderful experience. Kaija was a bit to get used to but once she started finding herself you started loving her too. Secrets and rumors are the bedrock of high school drama but sometimes its more serious and needs compassion and not ridicule. A dynamic mix of drama and first love.

*This review contains spoilers!!*I started reading this book with high hopes because of the first book in the series, and while it was still a really good read, I found it a tad predictable. I love stories that have twists, and this one didn't quite get there. Mack of course falls for the girl who is a challenge, and she finally gives in. Her secret was always bound to come out and you knew she would end up running away and blaming Mack. I just felt like the story between them was too forced and I hate even writing this because I usually love this author's writing. I will say I'm really excited for the next book with Finn and Layla and I think that one will get me back as a #1 fan.

This couple is so much fun. Kaija and Mack find something special in each other, that something special we all hope to find one day. Once again, Jordan Ford delivers a fun page-turner. Excuse me, while I go "one-click" book three in the A Big Play Novel series.

3.5 stars -- I received an ARC of this ebook from the author in exchange for my honest review!! (though I'm enjoying this series so much, I bought a copy of the final version for myself)I think I'm still in my reading slump. I even had a harder time concentrating on reading this book than I normally would (but that could have been that my life kept trying to get in the way of my reading). Truthfully the reading of this book kind of went in a rollercoaster. It didn't grab me right at the beginning, and I wasn't necessarily feeling the chemistry between Mack and Kaija right away. But I HONESTLY cannot tell if it's me anymore. It's starting to bug me. Anyways, by the time they started their prank war, I was totally absorbed and devouring all the words!!! I loved their playfulness and Sam was a hoot!!! And then I think I got distracted by life again and I lost the magic... I was enjoying watching Mack and Kaija get closer to each other, but it kind of just felt like it happened too fast, and Kaija easily let go of her reservations. So I had a hard time buying into the development of them as a couple. But once I finally let that go, I enjoyed watching them together.I think in the end I enjoyed each of their individual stories more than their romance. I really felt for Kaija and what happened to her back in New Zealand. It was an interesting character perspective -- someone who'd been one of the mean girls and who'd learned a REALLY hard lesson. And what happens to her in this book totally brought me to tears. I thought her story was very authentic.Mack had his own interesting story to tell, but I felt like his skimmed the surface a bit more. I would have liked even more depth there, but that could have been just my mood too, you know? I guess I just feel like I still don't quite know what drives Mack, other than his love of his family. But maybe that's because he doesn't know who he is either? Which is ok, but I guess I just wanted more...So yeah, I'm still super intrigued by the stories and the world that Ms. Ford has created, but this one just didn't hit it out of the park quite as much as Colt and Tori's story did. I was so glad we got to see a bit of them in this story as well, b/c they are adorable together! I wish we'd seen more of Finn, but I am super psyched that Finn's story is next (even if I'm wary of Layla as the heroine), so there are good things coming in my future! :)

Great follow-up to The Playmaker. Mack and Kaija have a relationship that everyone wants. It was love at first sight, but circumstances got in there way. They had to work through their owns problems to make it work. I loved this book a dncant wait to read the next book in the series.

I love this series I can't wait. This story touched me and it totally had me crying.The way the characters are written and are brought to life just makes you think the characters are real out there in the wide world.

This was another cute read. I liked it but still loved the first one. Cannot wait to read the others in this series.
