I read this purely so that I could be a more empathetic friend to someone taking a path - of midlife divorce - which I had not, but it gave me more than I expected ... even altered my perspective on my own marriage, in which I am content. A worthwhile read.

Although my own divorce had been finalized for 6 mo. already by the time I read this book and I'm just a tad past my "mid-life" (I'm 63) I still found it extremely helpful and it was also a fun read. Even at my age, I was able to glean some very useful information and even discovered the likely reason why I've continued to find myself in relationships that were less than ideal (who knew that I had been settling for a marriage that was "good enough"?!). I very much appreciated the humor and thoughtfulness with which Abby Rodman wrote and would highly recommend this book to anyone going through a divorce or contemplating proceeding w/one.

Literally could not put this book down! This is a statement that I would normally reserve for a novel I love, but I have been so stressed out trying to figure out what I need to do and this book has provided such insight and in a weird way, comfort. The author is able to come at this issue from so many different angles that what she has to say will either speak to you directly, or shed light on the other side of the coin. Really grateful to have stumbled upon this incredibly helpful resource in the most terrible time of my life.

Truly the first book that I related with almost entirely. It gives a real perspective that is truthful and honest. It came at just the right time in my life. Glided through it in a few hours. Very very very helpful to anyone thinking of divorce after years of wondering what to do.

At first you think "wow" why this big typeface, it must be a lightweight book, but it's not. Very practical, very insightful. Some of the question Abby asks you to think about really clarify your decision. Her straightforward talk about the bumps in the road are so true. It helps to know you're not alone in all this. Divorce is never easy, but this book is great to have by your side along the way.

I liked this book for its honesty. Not only does the author support its readers but lays out the ultimate truth about how devastating divorce can be.

This book is for Baseball fans. I bought it thinking that it might be interesting for my son to read about a friendship/mentorship. The story of what happens with the people gets weighed down with a lot of drag about historic detail that doesn't help move the plot along. So I thought I'd read it and tell my son the story. I couldn't get through it. The author uses too many historical facts in the places where she is supposed to be building suspense. And it just takes too long to get to the satisfying parts of the story. This is a "book report" book that you could read to get a good grade with. It also wonderful in the characterization of a good, moral, honest role model and friend for children. The adult characters are safe and wholesome to introduce to your young ones.

This is one of our Battle of the Books Titles this year and while the story itself is a wonderful and important one to read we were disappointed in the sentence structure and grammar. It is a great story about Sharon’s family’s struggle and you can’t beat personal experience when it comes to these stories. Thanks for sharing.

I really wanted to like this book, but it's a little too sappy. My 10 year old daughter thought it was really sappy too. I really didn't like Steve. he gets in trouble a lot at school. When he finds out that his teacher may visit his home to deliver bad news, he and his best friend Sena push her down.The story is a little sad because Steve's dad dies at the beginning, The story moves back to good memories from steve's past related to baseball and his love of Jackie Robinson.Certainly Jackie Robinson was an incredible baseball player, and he faced many challenges in integrating baseball. Unfortunately the book glosses over the racial conflicts, and just presents Jackie as a candidate for Sainthood. One of the biggest conflicts in the story is when Jackie doesn't realize that Steve is Jewish and buys him a Christmas tree. It's almost a scandal.

My son read this for a book report. He loved it. Thought it was pretty cool that an ordinary boy became friends with a professional baseball player! He didn’t care for the first person narrative though.

My son loves baseball and this book was a great book for his reading ar class being he got to read something he likes

In an era when Dr. Ben Carson says poverty is "a state of mind", and Congress wants to "improve" Medicaid by taking out $800+ billion and eliminating coverage for pre-existing conditions, they and more serious-minded people should read this impressive work. Even though it's published by an academic press, this book is very well-written, readable and very accessible to the average reader. I like the way Dr. Ansell uses one street in Chicago --Ogden Avenue -- to show how the average age of death (from illnesses, not violence) varies by 20 years or more from one neighborhood to the next. Gets you thinking about what we need to do to fix the inequality in our health care system, a system that costs 50% more per capita than any other nation, leaves million uncovered, and by most measures produces mediocre results.

I have had the great good fortune to hear Dr. Ansell speak at the Social Medicine Consortium meeting in Chicago in 2017. This book provides a concise and thought provoking approach to the theory that underlies the practice of social medicine. I just finished reading this book while teaching in an intensive social medicine course in Haiti with the dedicated social medicine team from EqualHealth. The context may be different but the basic principles apply here as well.

Excellent book. A must-read not only for all physicians and health care workers but for anyone who cares about health care in America.

About the Author

Catherine Spellman participated as research fellow in Architecture Class of Professor Enric Miralles at the Staatliche Hochschule f�r Bildende Kunst, Frankfurt, Germany. There she continued as Miralles� teaching assistant for three years. Simultaneously she taught with Professor Peter Cook at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London. Catherine Spellman joined the Faculty of Architecture at Arizona State University where she has taught design studio, seminars, and lecture courses. She is an awarded academic including the 2012 AIA Honor Award for Excellence in Teaching. Her design research areas include investigations and projects about; Phoenix water infrastructure, relationships between buildings, context and landscape, and public interest projects benefitting non-for-profit organizations. These projects are recognized with local and national awards and are widely published. I bought this book for my son to study for PSAT exam. Today I open the book and just very randomly check the book out for five minutes. Two errors!Page 150, the equation g(x) = (-x+2) + 3 on problem 12. It misses the square.Page 11, problem #2 equation -2(x-3) = 5 (it should be 17, not 5!).The authors are just too eager to publish it without proof-reading the manuscripts. Terrible experience and I have to throw the book away. harmful books to confuse youths when they definitely need good books by responsible writers.

It serves its propose. Not super happy though. I bought a new book but it came a little dirty, with scratches and wrinkles on the cover. A little damaged from the right corner as well.Gets worse... some pages were answered and some had notes on them... I realize too late sadly.

The questions are explained very well in the answer section. Easy to use.

I love Princeton Review products and methods as I have seen results as a former TPR student and TPR instructor. I used the math drills in this test prep guide to pre-assess a student. Now that Princeton Review has released Cracking the redesigned PSAT, I will be using that guide going forward. If a customer is looking to prepare for the rSAT, I would recommend Cracking the SAT which has more drills and more thorough explanations than either PSAT book. The PSAT books are good for practice tests.

too much explanation could be helpful

I bought this for my granddaughter to help her prepare for the PSAT. It is designed to get the kids ready by drilling them on the kinds of skills they will need on the test plus practice taking the test itself. It is designed to be an intense and timed experience. However, if the student is a couple of years away, I say focus on the skills and not worry about the timing until you get closer to the real thing. I think Princeton Review puts out very good materials for test preparation and this book is another one.

I hope this book will be very effective for my daughter
